THEIR FUTURE IN YOUR HANDS
DIANE SMITH, Regional Education Officer for Animal Aid, introduces the subject of animal rights, including showing this Animal Aid school education film, which raises the issue of the inhumanity of vivisection laboratories and factory farms but also offers hope for how we can all help to create a less violent world. Short question and answer/discussion session.

THE WORK OF THE ANIMALS ASIA FOUNDATION
DAVE NEALE, UK Director of the Animals Asia Foundation will be talking about the organisation's wonderful China Moon Bear Rescue project and educational programmes about wild and domestic animals.

ANIMAL MATTERS/ANIMALS MATTER
BARABARA ALFORD will be reading some of her witty and amusing poems about animals, including 'I Wish I Was A Worm' and 'Penny the Pigeon From Broadgate'. Suitable for children and all adults of all ages.
1.05 to 1.50 pm
EAT THIS
KATE FOWLER-REEVES, Head of Campaigns for Animal Aid will introduce the subject of rearing animals for food and vegetarianism, followed by 'Eat This', a thought-provoking Animal Aid film, aimed particularly at teenagers, to stimulate thought about the way we rear animals for food in Britain today. Short question and answer/discussion session.
1.50 to 2.35 pm
A SLICE OF FAIRTRADE
Cookery demonstration by LIZ HUGHES of Birmingham Vegetarians and Vegans with recipes from their Fairtrade Vegan cookery book. She will be showing us how to make Chickpea and Apricot Tagine with Mint Dressing followed by Baked Bananas with Chocolate Sauce. Sample the delicious results afterwards and you can also buy the book!
2.45 to 3:30 pm
WHY IT'S GREEN TO GO VEGGIE
MARTIN DOYLE of Birmingham Veggies and Vegans will explain how vegetarian and vegan diets are not only better for people and animals but also for the planet. As the human population grows, the numbers of farm animals is exploding, bringing massive environmental problems. Martin will be explaining these problems and the ways plant-based diets can help to address them.
3:40 to 4.25 pm
THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE
JULIE ROBERTS will introduce the subject of animal experimentation, followed by a talk about the wonderful pioneering work of the Dr Hadwen Trust For Humane Research and their current projects on medical research without using animals.
Short question and answer/discussion session.

All talks are free and open to everyone (see guidance below).
The talks will be particular useful for teachers and schoolchildren for subjects such as Citizenship, Food Technology, Religious Studies, Philosophy, General Studies, English and Science.
The Animal Aid films are all suitable for children Keystage 4 (14 +) and designed to fit in with the National Curriculum.
